What you'll need
1
Create a new document

Click 'New Document', enter your target keyword and Google location. Frase automatically pulls in the top 20 SERP results for analysis.

2
Analyze the SERP overview

Review the average word count, domain authority range, and content types ranking for your keyword. This tells you what kind of content Google rewards for this query.

3
Build the outline from competitor headings

Open the 'Outline Builder'. Drag headings from competitor articles into your brief outline. Include headings that appear in 3+ competitor articles — Google values comprehensive coverage.

💡 Tip: Add your own headings for angles competitors miss — this is how you differentiate, not just by volume.
4
Add NLP terms to each section

For each heading in your outline, Frase shows which NLP terms appear in competing articles for that section. Add the most frequent ones to your brief as writing instructions.

5
Include questions from PAA

Switch to the 'Questions' tab and add relevant 'People Also Ask' questions to your brief. These become H3 subsections that capture additional search traffic.

6
Export the brief for writers

Export as a Google Doc or PDF. The brief includes: target word count, outline, NLP terms per section, PAA questions, and competitor URLs for reference.
