Optimize an existing blog post to rank higher using Surfer SEO's data-driven content editor.
In Surfer, click 'Content Editor' and enter your target keyword and location. Surfer analyzes the top 20 ranking pages for that query.
The right panel shows: recommended word count, keyword density targets, and NLP terms to include. Your goal is a Content Score above 70.
Copy your existing article into the Surfer editor. The left panel shows your current score and the right highlights which NLP terms are missing.
Work through the missing keyword list. Add each term in a context where it fits naturally — don't force it. Adding 10–15 missing terms typically jumps the score by 15–20 points.
If your article is shorter than the recommended range, expand thin sections. Add or split headings to match the number recommended by Surfer.
For sections you need to expand, use the built-in 'Write with AI' button to draft additional content aligned with the NLP requirements.
Export to Google Docs or WordPress directly. After publishing, track ranking changes in the SERP Analyzer over the next 2–4 weeks.
