Tools I No Longer Recommend: A Decision Log

This is a decision log, not a fictional confession. I will not claim that I personally paid for, used, or lost money on a tool unless I have a dated ledger or test record. A product can leave this site’s recommendation set because its public offer changed, its route stopped resolving cleanly, or the evidence is too weak to support a buying recommendation.

Current stop-list

Tool / pageWhy it is no longer a default recommendationEvidence boundary
Sourcegraph Cody Free / ProThe individual Free and Pro tiers were discontinued on July 23, 2025. The old $9/month comparison is historical, not a current self-serve offer. This is a product-status decision based on the cited status record in the Cody review, not a claim that I personally paid for Cody Pro.
ApiPorter reviewThe production URL returned a redirect to /review/ on September 20, 2026, while the page’s current pricing and reliability claims were not independently reverified. The page is therefore removed from the public build rather than presented as a live recommendation. This is a site editorial cleanup decision. It is not a product outage claim and not a claim of personal usage.

My stop rule

I stop recommending a tool when at least one of these is true:

  1. The offer is no longer purchasable in the form the page describes.
  2. The cost or usage limit cannot be verified from a current primary source.
  3. The product’s risk is material for a solo operator, but the page cannot document a fallback, refund path, or loss ceiling.
  4. The page would need a stronger first-person claim than the evidence supports.

What this page does not say

It does not say that every tool listed above is universally bad. It says that this site will not send a reader to buy it on the strength of an outdated or weakly verified page. Re-entry requires a current source, a reproducible test, or a clearly bounded use case.
