What This Page Covers

This site is a publication — it has no accounts, no newsletter signup, and no checkout. That removes most of the usual reasons a privacy policy exists, and it means the honest version of this page is short. Here is exactly what happens to your data when you read a page here.

I do not sell, rent, or trade any data, and there is no advertising network on this site.

2. Analytics and Cookies

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-CTZYJ6C5K0). It is the only analytics tool loaded here.

  • What it records: pages viewed, approximate location derived from a truncated IP, device and browser type, referring site, and how you moved through the site.
  • IP anonymisation is enabled, so the full IP address is not retained by Analytics.
  • Cookies: GA4 sets first-party cookies in your browser to distinguish a returning visitor from a new one. Those cookies are the reason the site asks before setting them.
  • The consent banner: the cookie notice at the bottom of the page has Accept and Decline. Declining is a real choice — it is not a nag screen you have to clear to read the site.
  • No other trackers: no advertising pixels, no cross-site retargeting, no session recording, and no third-party analytics beyond GA4.

To opt out without touching the banner, you can also block or clear cookies for this domain in your browser settings, or install Google’s official Analytics opt-out add-on. Either works — this site does not attempt to work around a browser that refuses cookies.

Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you sign up or buy through them. Two things follow from that, and both matter for privacy:

  • Clicking an affiliate link hands you to a third party. Once you land on the vendor’s site, that vendor sets its own cookies and applies its own privacy policy. I do not control what they collect and cannot delete it for you. If you want to avoid this entirely, navigate to the vendor’s site directly instead of through a link here.
  • Affiliate links are labelled. They carry rel="sponsored" in the markup, and any page containing one carries a short disclosure line near the recommendation. The full statement is on the Affiliate Disclosure page.

Committing to a commercial relationship does not extend to committing your data: no vendor receives anything from this site about who you are.

4. How to Get Your Data Deleted

Analytics data is not tied to a name, but you can still act:

  1. Stop future collection — click Decline on the cookie banner, or block cookies for hu-qian.com in your browser. Either takes effect immediately.
  2. Request deletion of past records — email [email protected] with the subject line Data deletion request. Include the approximate date and time you visited, plus your approximate location if you have it, so the record can be located.
  3. Server logs — ask for the same in your request, and I will raise it with the hosting provider, who controls log retention.

If you are in a jurisdiction that grants you a formal right of access, correction, or erasure (for example GDPR or CCPA), say so in the email and I will treat the request under that framework. There is no fee and no account to cancel.

5. Changes to This Policy

When this policy changes, the last modified date at the top of the page changes with it, and material changes are recorded in the Editorial Changelog.
